Surface Shotfirer

A five day course to enable experienced blast crew members to obtain Surface Shotfiring - Metalliferous units of competency.

The course provides the skills required by the shotfirer to manage all aspects of explosives storage, transport and use on surface coal and metalliferous mines, quarries and construction sites. The course is structured around twenty study units each focused on a specific key element of shotfiring in a surface operation.

The course is structured for delivery on site with fifty hours of theory delivery and assessment including a practical component that requires access to magazines, explosives transport vehicles and a production blast environment.

Trainees are required to submit a log book detailing their recent drill and blast experience and should have, as a minimum, two months experience as blast crew in a production drill and blast operation.
